I don't normally participate in Fun Monday but my wife talked me into this one. Mamalang is our hostess this week and this is our assignment: It's the Christmas season, and I want you to tell us what are your three favorite Christmas Carols and a picture of your favorite Christmas "thing". It could be a Christmas tree, or your mantle, or a church, you in a Santa hat.
My three favorite Christmas carols are:
Snoopy and the Red Baron
Silent Night
Christmas Time in Texas
and for my favorite Christmas thing? It's this.
Midnight Mass - which is no longer at midnight in our parish. It's usually around 9:00 p.m. due to the age of our parishioners, our weather, and I think partially out of consideration for our overworked priests.
This week, my baby girl got to tell me what to do. Here is what she said:
Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.
Born to Be Wild - Steppenwolf Words and music by Mars Bonfire
ok i don't get it, i'm less than 100% american , not completly redneck! n the stupid test said i'm middle of the road normal 50%, how can that be??????
You Are Fairly Normal
You scored 50% normal on this quiz
Like most people you are normal in some ways... But you aren't a completely normal person. You're a little weird too!
Why You Are Normal:
You think glasses can make someone more attractive
You find the Macarena to be the more embarrassing dance
You prefer a good meal to a good nap
You'd rather have rats than cockroaches in your home
You would eat meat from a cloned animal
Why You Aren't Normal:
You would rather be tan than pale
When you're in a car, you prefer to be the passenger
You prefer your family to your friends
You don't keep up with your horoscope
If given the choice, you would choose to have more time over more money
This week's Round Robin challenge is vegetables. My vegetable, and yes, I know it's not really a vegetable, is corn. My favorite way to eat corn is on the hoof.
My wife and child both did this. I am married to a banana who gave birth to a pear
You Are an Apple
You are strong, powerful, and even a bit stubborn at times. You have enough strength to help those around you in trouble.
You are adventurous and charming. Many people are drawn to you. You love life, and you enjoy traveling the world. You enjoy fine food, art, and culture.
People have accused you of being a snob, but that's not accurate. You do enjoy the best things in life. Unlike snobs, you truly appreciate quality... not just pretend to.
I was tagged, along with the rest of my family, by the Megnificent Meg. So, Meg, just how weird to you think we are? That was strictly rhetorical, of course. I know how weird we are.
Rules: (1) Link to the person that tagged you. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their site.
There has to be Spam in my pantry or I feel destitute and poor.
Things must be put back where they came from. It doesn't have to be where they belong but it must be where they came from.
I can be a little rigid.
I have to get dressed in the following order (do not picture this in your brain); left sock, right sock, underwear, left boot, right boot, tie left boot, tie right boot. If somehow I get out of order, I am off kilter all day.
I do not like being late.
I have to have the same pocket calendar year after year after year. This is VERY important.
There you have it. and because I am pathetic and because my wife and my daughter have already tagged everyone we know and some folks that we don't, I am not gonna tag anyone.
When my wife and I first moved to Texas, one of the first things we noticed as we drove through small town after small town was the number of amazing county squares. Every town has an historic courthouse and ours is no exception.
Inside the courthouse is this statue and explanation of our County name.
So, drive carefully as you leave and have a great time visiting the other Round Robin participants.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you as well as you deserve." J.R.R. Tolkien, the Fellowship of the Rings.
4. Use whatever program you want to put it all together into a CD cover (I actually typed album jacket and then realized that some of y'all might not know what an album is).
I sat down tonight to do what has become my weekly update and started running through my work week. My wife asked me if I ever did anything but work. I thought for a minute and said, "Nope, don't think so." She reminded me, rather tersely, that we had gone to see Alvin and the Chipmunks last weekend with our grandson (it was his reward for good behavior at school) and we had gone to the local stock show this weekend (for the same reason).
So, the movie was not nearly as horrendous as I thought it was going to be. The stock show was awesome. Lil Man is too young to belong to 4H or to show, but maybe next year. This year, the kids next door did SO well - Grand Champion Steer, Reserve Champion Goat, and a couple more that I can't remember.
It was a good weekend. I accomplished nothing around the house but I do remember having fun!
It was still cold this weekend but not as windy. Much better!
Saturday, Sandy and Charlie and I did quite a bit of yardwork. Nothing that you'd notice especially but some poop raking and rose pruning and skirting moving (didn't put any up, but moved it to the other end of the house) and tumbleweed clearing. It looks quite a bit better.
Sunday, we mostly just kicked back. Charlie went home to his mom's after breakfast and then came back in the afternoon when she had to go to work. He and I got out his BB gun and set up a target in the yard. He's a pretty good shot! He took down his target, a 12" wooden diamond, and danged if there weren't quite a few BBs in it when he was done.
He is out of school tomorrow (parent teacher conferences) so I expect I'll find some home made cookies when I get home from work.
You're as American as red meat and shooting ranges. Tough and independent, you think big. You love everything about the US, wrong or right. And anyone who criticizes your home better not do it in front of you!
This is the BadDad blog. I did not call my son on his birthday. I have not been able to get hold of him since. This is my last try - well, OK, not my last try but I'm hoping this one works!
